Why Butterflies?

Picture
"Butterfly is the symbol of change, the soul, creativity, freedom, joy and colour. Their power is transformation, shape shifting and soul evolution. They represent the element of air, quickly changing and always on the move gracefully."  -Ina Woolcott

When Witti's youngest brother died at the age of 19, her mother clutched onto the butterfly as a symbol of hope, of transformation without death and of evolution.  When Witti was crowned the 26th Empress of New York, she adopted the blue butterfly as her reign symbol, partially to ensure that her mother's spirit infused her work, but also because she found so much of the other symbolism to be spot-on.

A group of butterflies is called a Kaleidoscope, and it is in this spirit that we adopt the name and the symbol to present a group of artists who can change, move gracefully, share their creativity, freedom and joy with the world and help to build harmony.
